Alvin Dedeaux Fly Fishing
Fishing Report
Winter has arrived in central Texas. This is the time of year that most fishermen start thinking about trout fishing on the Guadalupe River. In spite of the drought the Guadalupe has enough water to float and it is cold and very clear. We had some holdover trout this summer and Trout Unlimited along with Texas Parks and Wildlife have stocked quite a few fish this winter. Stockings will continue through February so the fishing will only get better.
For all you warmwater fanatics out there the Colorado River below Austin is the best bet during the winter. After a few days of warm weather we usually have good bass fishing on the Colorado. Right now is the best time to catch a white bass over 3 pounds or a freshwater drum over 10 pounds. As is the norm on the Colorado River we usually have miles of river to ourselves.
6/15/10 Slow fishing this afternoon on the Colorado River. We did manage to catch a few bass on weighted streamers.
