I fished today with a couple of guys named Jim. Jim Bradly and Jim Robinson have been fishing together for 45 years, but today was the first time either one of them had fished the Colorado River. We put in at the Utley bridge and ran about 5 miles up river. The water was a little cooler than it has been lately at about 63 degrees. The fish we pretty sluggish in the morning but Jim Bradly caught his first ever Guadalupe Bass, a nice one about 2 pounds, on a popper. We tried topwater, streamers and some heavily weighted Clouser Minnows. We managed to catch fish throughout the day, but the fish seemed to get more active as the water warmed. The fish of the day was caught during the last hour of fishing on an orange deer hair sub-surface pattern.
